Winnipeg, Manitoba (May 13, 2024) – This Pride season, Rainbow Resource Centre is celebrating by hosting or partnering in 20+ events that inspire joy, build resilience, and strengthen community. At a time when 2SLGBTQ+ rights are under threat across Canada, there is nothing more defiant than queer/trans joy.

“At Rainbow, we believe Pride is more than just a parade - it is a powerful declaration of our existence, our identities, and our unwavering commitment to creating a world where 2SLGBTQ+ people thrive,” says Noreen Mian, Executive Director. “Together, we raise our voices, march with pride, and demonstrate that our community cannot be silenced or broken. This is our time to reclaim our narrative and embrace the transformative and restorative power of queer/trans joy.”

From May 15 to June 28, Rainbow Resource Centre, Canada's longest continuously running 2SLGBTQ+ community centre, is hosting or partnering in a wide range of free and ticketed events for all ages, including Queer Space (May 15), Saturday Night Pride (June 1), and a series of Lunch & Learn Sessions throughout June. There’s also a Pride Prom for youth (May 25), an intergenerational Pride Picnic (May 29), High Tea for everyone (June 8), and so much more. And, of course, you’re invited to march with Rainbow in the Pride Parade on June 2.

"Queer joy is a powerful antidote to the forces that seek to erase us," said Ashley Smith, Director of Advocacy. "It is a testament to the strength and solidarity of our community, a reminder that we will not be broken, and that our spirits will continue to soar, no matter the obstacles we face."
