Storytelling transcends cultures, ages, identities and nations. This workshop, led by storytelling expert, Amna Burki, sets out to a make space for appreciating global diverse cultures, geographies and languages in the folktales, creating connection to an ancient art form that has been used for millennia to foster belonging and community and introduce personal stories practices! Amna Burki has been in Winnipeg, Canada since the year 2000. She was born and raised in Pakistan, coming from a family who migrated as refugees from India. Further education took her to UK. With a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management, a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics in Gender and Development Studies, and 20+ years of work and volunteer experience, Amna has used her facilitation and mentoring skills in capacity-building with newcomers, families, and service providers. Stories matter to Amna. She is a storyteller who amplifies and empowers the voices of those who lack representation, acceptance, and appreciation. Having designed storytelling workshops including: Tapping into Resiliency Through Storytelling (TRTS) and Gentle Heroes for service providers, her approach encourages participants to shift and thrive. She’s been a panelist, a speaker, a facilitator and has performed stories locally and across the globe. Her storytelling focuses on the power of cross-cultural stories to bring people together and addresses important issues impacting today’s world! We are so excited to bring this opportunity to Over the Rainbow! Register to receive the Zoom link!
