On Saturday, June 15th, join us for an afternoon of still life painting guided by OTR member and artist, Lawren Rich, who will be sharing their expansive knowledge of the arts with us all! All of the supplies will be provided, just bring yourself and your creative thinking (and maybe a smock or old clothes).

  • Over the Rainbow: Harm Reduction Lunch and Learn

    1:30pm – 3:30pm

Lunch n' Learn: Harm Reduction w/ Max

Back in January, we were lucky to have Rainbow's Info & Intake Coordinator Max (they/them) share the fascinating history and application of harm reduction with us all virtually! I am happy to welcome Max back to OTR with an in-person presentation of the same topic, this time with pizza! From Manitoba Harm Reduction Network webpage: "Harm Reduction is a best practice model for providing services in health care and social service programming for people who use substances and are impacted by colonial and structural violence; particularly the War on (BIPOC) People Who Use Drugs. Harm Reduction is more than needle distribution, and in fact, you do not need to do distribution to work from this model. Rather than focus on individual behaviour, our approach to harm reduction focuses on how systems create and exacerbate harms to people who use drugs and other oppressed groups, often by design and with intent. All workshops are delivered through an anti-oppression and anti-racism lens. Harm reduction refers to policies, programmes and practices that aim to minimise negative health, social and legal impacts associated with drug use, drug policies and drug laws. Harm reduction is grounded in justice and human rights. It focuses on positive change and on working with people without judgement, coercion, discrimination, or requiring that they stop using drugs as a precondition of support." Want to attend virtually? By registering below, you will also receive a zoom link that will stream Bre's presentation. Please note that food and refreshments are only provided for in-person attendees.

  • Over the Rainbow Potluck Brunch

    11:00am – 1:00pm

While our potlucks are usually supper and usually on the first Friday of the month, Pride and summer vacations can sure throw a wrench into any regularly scheduled programming... This June, instead of a potluck supper, we will be gathering together on Sunday, June 23rd to enjoy a group brunch together! Join us from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 545 Broadway for a group meal that can be breakfast, it can be lunch, it can be dessert - whatever you want to bring! Rainbow will be providing fruit and some pastries - but please bring along whatever dish you think would be a good fit for a shared meal. Please remember to bring a list of ingredients for folks with allergies :)

  • Over the Rainbow CMHA Webinar

    10:00am – 11:00am

"Glimmers and Triggers" Webinar w/ CMHA

Have you ever been going about your day and a song comes on that brings up some beautiful memories? Or maybe you hear a loud noise and suddenly you're feeling shaken and scared and can't calm down? The conversations around triggers and trauma are becoming more commonplace. Triggers are intense feelings that are set on by an environmental element, interaction, or flashback that led an individual to recall traumatic memories. But what about when we are struck by feelings of joy and memories that invoke happy experiences? Those suddenly arising feelings of joy related to happy memories are called "Glimmers"! Learn the meanings and causes behind both, their purpose in our psyche, and how to cope.
