Title: Peer-to-Peer 55+ Phoneline Caller

Purpose: To provide regular/weekly phone check-ins and affirming conversation to participants of the Over the Rainbow 55+ program resulting in a greater feeling of connection to the community.

Duties & Responsibilities: Making phone calls to engage OTR participants who are seeking regular contact and conversation; reporting call times via email to the program coordinator on a weekly basis.

Time Requirement: 2-10 hours/month

Skills and Qualifications: Friendly, outgoing, organized, reliable, calm under pressure, good listener/storyteller, comfortable having open discussions on issues related to the experience 2SLGBTQ+ adults aged 55+ such as physical and mental health, inclusion and history.

Access to a reliable phone.

Computer skills: Email

*This position does not require volunteers to be onsite at Rainbow Resource Centre, however if you need to attend the Centre for any reason, you would be required to provide proof of full vaccination.

Start & End Date: December 2021 (6-month volunteer commitment with opportunity to renew)

Location: Rainbow Resource Centre (170 Scott St. R3L 0L3)

  2. Role-Specific Training (2 hours)
