Planning with Pride

Coming this fall – a Rainbow Resource Centre production - Planning With Pride.

Join us November 1 – 3, 2022, for a three-day national virtual event that celebrates all aspects of the 2SLGBTQ+ older adult experience.

Planning With Pride convenes the leading research and latest resources to make them available to the audiences that need them most: 2SLGBTQ+ older adults, caregivers, community resource centres, frontline healthcare staff, and policymakers.

Day One – Plan will be a series of practical workshops about advanced care planning, knowing one's rights in healthcare, talking to one's doctor, and other relevant strategies.

Day Two – Live will cover topics that intersect queer identities with isolation, elder abuse, and dementia – mirrored with success stories of inclusive programming, affirming housing, and competent care for 2SLGBTQ+ seniors.

Day Three – Celebrate will end on notes of dying with dignity, the unique types of grief in the 2SLGBTQ+ community, reconciling spirituality and queer identities, and close with a "celebration of life," in the form of a panel discussion with community archivists and oral history projects collecting stories and artifacts, giving value to the lived experience of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Planning With Pride is designed to be an immersive learning experience about:
