Update from Rainbow Resource Centre

Dear friends and supporters of Rainbow Resource Centre,

We hope this post finds you and your family healthy and safe. We want update you on how Rainbow Resource Centre is responding to COVID-19 to ensure that we continue to support the 2SLGBTQ+ community throughout this crisis.

We have changed how we conduct our day-to-day activities, our office is closed to the public, and staff are working from home. In anticipation of an increased need, we have added additional capacity to our counselling team. Same week appointments for new clients are still available and all sessions are being conducted over the phone; we're also ensuring a continuum of care for ongoing clients.

We continue to foster social connectedness by offering all our volunteer-led interest groups the ability to meet via video conference. Over the Rainbow, our social support group for 2SLGBTQ+ older adults, has continued with their twice-weekly Coffee & Chat in this format and it’s as robust online as it is in person.

The Youth Program will be offering frequent and diverse online programming through platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Zoom, ensuring that youth can stay connected to each other and the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Programming will focus on keeping youth safely engaged in a fun, positive online space to learn new skills, create projects, and celebrate their identities. Programming will continue to focus on fostering resilience, increasing self-esteem, and self-confidence while building social networks.

Social distance does not mean social isolation. Thank you for your support and on-going donations. It’s because of you that we are able to avoid a disruption in service, ensuring our community remains healthy and connected.

We look forward to continuing our mission to build a proud, resilient, and diverse 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Thank you & stay well,

Rainbow Resource Centre
