Daniel has worked in the newcomer settlement field for over seven years prior to joining Rainbow Resource Centre as a Settlement Worker. Specifically, he worked with newcomer youth on employment related needs. As a Settlement Worker as part of the Neighbourhood Immigrant Settlement Workers (NISW) at Rainbow Resource Centre, Daniel hopes to work closely with LGBTQ+ newcomers to help them integrate into Canadian society and establish a new home where they can feel safe and accepted. At the same time, he also wants to help the LGBT2SQ+ community to have even more understanding of the needs of newcomers and those who seek safety and protection in our country.
Daniel has been involved in the LGBT2SQ+ community since 2005 when he was a peer-support volunteer on the phone line at Rainbow Resource Centre. In 2013, he co-founded New Pride of Winnipeg and was a co-facilitator until 2017. Daniel is in the process of acquiring a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and expecting to graduate in the fall of 2019.
