If These Walls Could Talk: 50 Years of 2SLGBTQ+ Activism in Winnipeg

50 years ago, before the acronym as we have it today, before gay marriage, the right to adoption, protection against hate crimes, or being allowed to be out at work, the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Winnipeg, through a simple act of meeting in a room at the University of Manitoba, started a journey to fight for the rights we have today. Activism may be small actions or massive events, but it is always the result of visionaries and avengers.

Coming this Pride, Rainbow Resource Centre and the Manitoba Museum, with special thanks to the Government of Manitoba, will explore the major moments of the last 50 years—some memorable, some almost forgotten, all of them critical to understanding where we’ve been, how we got here, and why it’s important to remember our journey. This exhibit will be open till December 2023. Opens May 26. Stay tuned for details.
